Smog Free Project by Daan Roosegaarde [OFFICIAL MOVIE] from Studio Roosegaarde on Vimeo.
After purifying tower Roosegaarde studio debut in Rotterdam and Amsterdam last year, developers have decided to expand the number of self-cleaning the city, including the list of Beijing. The city has also been installed Tower Smog Free Tower, which automatically cleans the surrounding air from the dust and smog. As a result, after 41 days of its towers were cleared more than 30 million cubic meters of air, which, as the developers say, corresponds to ten times the volume of the Beijing National Stadium, which hosts the Summer Olympic Games of 2008. During this time the tower was able to capture several billions of harmful particles having sizes ranging from 2.5 microns to 10 microns.
The tower requires power 1700 W power, which is used for the formation of positively charged ions released into the air. These particles are attached to the contaminant compounds and are attracted back to the tower through the inner surface negatively charged. The structure is able to purify the surrounding air from all sides of the tower, effectively creating a clean air bubble.
Smog particles collected tower subsequently assembled into small cubes which are used to make jewelry. Each cube contains particles collected in the processing of more than 1,000 cubic meters of air. Cubes are set into the rings, which are subsequently used as jewelry souvenirs reminiscent of the new air purification process. In Beijing, similar to the ring parted limited edition of 300 copies.
