The House of Gunnar Asplund (1940) Sweden, Surunda, Hestnesvegen, 55
The owner of this small house, Gunnar Asplund, is a famous Swedish architect. This cannot be guessed by looking at his house. The building does not look like a celebrity villa, but a peasant's house in a Swedish outback. Inside, at first glance, too, nothing special.
Nevertheless it is a masterpiece, it is simply made so finely that the strokes are almost not visible. It is necessary to try very hard to discern the details that turn everydayness into poetry (for example, steps of a ladder that enter directly into the open chamber).
