The appearance of the house is traditional and its technical equipment is revolutionary. There are a lot of engineering finds, some of which will become every day only in the next century, while others are completely useless: flush toilets, a kitchen elevator, and a complex mechanism hidden in the floor, which opens one of the doors. The architect's house, especially in the 20th century, is an experimental site. Thomas Jefferson's house is the first in this series.
