Simulation of the global energy system

Finnish researchers from the Lappeenranta University of Technology have created a simulation of the global energy system, completely based on renewable energy sources.

The model was first presented by Professor Christian Breuer at the World Conference on Clean Energy, which was held in Geneva from 1 to 4 November. It reflects a world based entirely on renewable energy sources, and is divided into 145 separate regions, which can also be aggregated into 9 large. This global energy system, according to scientists, it is possible to build up to 2030.
"I hope that this will help to dispel all the myths related to clean energy. Visualization shows exactly how the world based entirely on renewable energy sources, can be created and how it functions. So let's just build it ", - he said, publication Science Daily Feed Vainikka, senior researcher in the Scientific Center of Technology, Lappeenranta University.
According to the World Energy Council, at the moment the share of renewable energy of the total electricity production in the world is about 23%. Many countries have already announced their intention to fully switch to renewable sources of energy: for example, Sweden is going to do it by 2040, and Norway will become a country with zero emissions of carbon dioxide already in 2030-m.
