In America, Gropius taught at the Harvard Design School, and he used his house as a teaching aid, showing students, by his example, what modern architecture is: plan and facades as a reflection of the spatial structure, a clear separation of functional zones, attention to natural light. The house became a symbol of the new architecture of the international style that came to America from the Old World.
