The House of Walter Gropius (1938) the USA

Walter Gropius is one of the chief architects of modernism, and his move to the United States in the 1930s is a historic event. Since then, not Europe, but America has become the place where the most advanced architecture of the world is created.

In America, Gropius taught at the Harvard Design School, and he used his house as a teaching aid, showing students, by his example, what modern architecture is: plan and facades as a reflection of the spatial structure, a clear separation of functional zones, attention to natural light. The house became a symbol of the new architecture of the international style that came to America from the Old World.
